Introducing
Dr. Robert A. Orsi is one of the first chroniclers of the experiences of clergy abuse survivors in the Catholic Church. He is a friend of the Spirit Fire ministry from the start.
Bob is a Professor of Religious Studies and the Grace Craddock Nagle Chair in Catholic Studies in the Department of Religion in Northwest University. He is widely recognized for his seminal work in the theory and methods for the study of religion.
Bob focuses on American religious history and contemporary practice as well as American Catholicism in both historical and ethnographic perspective. He is widely recognized also for his work on theory and method for the study of religion.
President of the American Academy of Religion 2002-2003, Bob has held fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Fulbright Foundation. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
The first to be recognized with the Grace Craddock Nagle Chair, Bob also received the E. Leroy Hall Award for Teaching Excellence, Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences, Northwestern University, which is the highest recognition for teaching offered by Weinberg College.
